At Design Miami/ last month, The Future Perfect presented Fragments, a creative collaboration with Dutch designer Lex Pott and New York-based Calico Wallpaper.

A part of Design Miami/’s Design Curio Program, the immersive installation featured new and exclusively commissioned works in stone from Lex Pott and custom hand-made wall-coverings from Calico Wallpaper, created in collaboration with The Future Perfect Founder David Alhadeff.

Pott’s monumental works explored the properties of stone, offering a dialogue between nature with naturally broken forms, and industry, with polished planes of traditionally manufactured stone. The pieces were framed by a custom hand-made gradient wall covering that was hand-applied on-site by Nicholas and Rachel Cope of Calico Wallpaper. This created a holistic environment that allowed visitors to see the performative process as it developed. The pigment used to create the wall-covering was derived from pulverized Belgian bluestone, the same material used to create Pott’s striking furniture pieces. Since founding The Future Perfect in 2003, Alhadeff has been dedicated to collaborating and commissioning new work from emerging designers and Fragments is no exception.

In January 2016, Fragments will be installed at The Future Perfect’s New York showroom and will feature unseen works from Lex Pott’s Fragments collection in addition to the new works by Pott and Calico Wallpaper previously on view at Design Miami/.
