KEF has firmly established itself at the forefront of audio excellence. From the early adoption of synthetic materials, to the pioneering Reference Series that now determines industry standard, a foundation of technological innovation, design, and craftsmanship has led the brand to produce bar-setting products in speaker design. Partnerships with visionary designers such as Ross Lovegrove, Eric Chan, Michael Young, and Terence Conran, have paired engineering expertise with innovative sculptural forms.
Founded in 1961 – Autumn 2021 marks the brand’s 60th anniversary – by BBC engineer Raymond Cooke, KEF is named after its original site, Kent Engineering and Foundry, and continues to manufacture and develop its signature pieces in Maidstone, Kent. Building upon a portfolio of audiophile favourites, the brand has expanded its collection of hi-fi speakers and subwoofers, to include wireless hi-fi speakers, portable Bluetooth speakers, and headphones.
