Ace Hotel Kyoto
will open in Spring 2020 with Ace’s first outpost in Asia designed in collaboration with long-time Ace partner award-winning Commune Design and legendary architect Kengo Kuma – the principal architect for the Tokyo Olympic Stadium 2020. Ace Hotel Kyoto lives in a building that is part historic structure and part new-build that comprise the SHIN-PUH-KAN Redevelopment Project that incorporates a large ground floor marketplace in the city – all cohesively designed by Kuma. Ace Hotel Kyoto is the fourth design collaboration between Atelier Ace and Commune Design, including Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs, Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles and Ace Hotel Chicago.
Ace Hotel Kyoto will be a vessel for the city to use in its vision for the future – synthesizing an inspired and culturally resonant demographic and a global lifestyle with the strong historical and cultural power that is the domain of Kyoto. Working closely with local artists and craftsmen, Ace Hotel Kyoto weaves their love of organic beauty and hand-crafted masterpieces to realize a multi-layered and global appreciation for the long and storied tradition of aesthetic dialogue between American and Japanese design.
Nearly 20 years after its creation, Ace Hotel currently has 9 hotels – in Seattle, Portland, New York, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, London, Pittsburgh, New Orleans and Chicago.
