The ninth edition of Design Miami/ Basel took place this week in Hall 1 Sud, along side Art Basel, with a record number of participating galleries showing work that spanned across the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Record numbers of visitors including Collectors, Art Gallerists, Museum Curators and journalists from across the globe were greeted by designer Jamie Zigelbaum’s mesmerising light installation ‘Triangular Series’ on the ground floor. While the newest addition to the fair’s program, Design At Large curated by Barneys New York Creative Director Dennis Freedman, stole the show with six exceptional large scale works. Swarovksi presented a massive, breath-taking crystal encrusted sphere by Fredrikson Stallard and Audi, the exclusive automotive sponsor, allowed Konstantin Grcic to reimagine the TT Coupe into a futuristic Pavilion. The week was rounded out with an intriguing talks program and the champagne flowed elegantly, compliments of Perrier-Jouet. Now we can’t wait to share what’s in store for Design Miami/ as we prepare for its tenth anniversary year starting this December in Miami.
