Strut & Cluck is the latest in a long-line of new “themed” restaurants popping up in the capital however, the space delightfully doesn’t feel niche at all. While most of us think of turkey only in the festive season, after a successful residency at Shoreditch House last year Strut & Cluck has taken on the challenge of bringing us modern, tasty turkey dishes all year round.
The roomy restaurant is built around a central bar and kitchen. The walls are rustic with highlight hues of green and blue that are complimented by the endless amount of hanging plants cascading from the ceiling. The back dining area features a wooden bench seat with cushions and candle-lit tables and in all feels less Shoreditch and more Morocco.
Strut & Cluck was born out of owner’s Amir and Limor Chen’s passion for healthy eating and the home cooking style of their Eastern Mediterranean heritage. Limor began experimenting with turkey as alternative to chicken and quickly fell in love with the bird and now the pair call themselves the “turkey meat evangelists”! Juxtaposed alongside traditional Eastern Mediterranean flavours the dishes at Strut & Cluck are surprising and delicious.
Turkey is definitely the star of the menu with options from on and off the bone. The tender roasted turkey thigh with smokey sweet potato was a highlight along with the unexpectedly tasty turkey schnitzel!
Aside from the turkey, the charred cauliflower with spices lemon-infused crème freche is fast becoming a signature-dish for the restaurant. Not just delicious to eat but beautiful on the plate scattered with pomegranate seeds and a firm favourite of diners who are sharing their Strut & Cluck experience on social media.
While situated on busy Commercial Street, Strut & Cluck feels more like a café on tucked-away somewhere on the coast of well, Turkey.
