Last week in London Nilufar Gallery launched SQUAT, the fourth in its series of temporary residential interior concept spaces combining collectible design, art and architecture.
For the London SQUAT, Nilufar’s founder Nina Yashar teamed up with Shalini Misra and Mehves Ariburnu, Director and Creative Advisor at Shalini Misa Ltd.
The three took over a 230 square metre Victorian apartment on South Audley Street, in Mayfair, completely renovating the interior. The SQUAT presents design pieces from Nilufar’s collection from historic masters like Gio Ponti and Ico Parisi to new works by contemporary talents including Patricia Urquiola, Martino Gamper and Bethan Laura Wood.
Notable pieces included the ‘Expected to be or happen at a time still to come’ carpet by Martino Gamper, which was commissioned for the 2008 edition of Design Miami/Basel, on the occasion of Martino Gamper’s Designer of the Future award.
Lighting by Lindsay Adelman and Michael Anastassiades caught our eye.
Overall the richness of this space and the inspired approach to curated living was captivating to say the least.
