One of our favorite design destinations is Atelier Courbet. Nestled in Little Italy, this showroom is a unique destination for one-of-a-kind finds and limited edition products. Atelier Courbet has a rotating display of exhibitions from select craftsman and workshops. This month, Atelier Courbet unveiled part two of its exhibition of Vienna’s Craftsmanship and Design Legacy with a celebration of Lobmeyr.
This storied crystal dynasty has more than 200 years of experience and is one of the most regarded glass makers today. The family business, in its sixth generation, uses traditional techniques with innovative design to create stunning crystal glasses, decorative accessories and chandeliers. One of its most notable designs was created specifically for the Metropolitan Opera, a chandelier designed by Hans Harald Rath as a gift from Austria to the United States exactly 50 years ago. Today, Lobmeyr works with architects and artists to design special collections using cutting, etching and hand-painting techniques.
The Atelier Courbet exhibition is a retrospective of the design legacy taking the consumer through the most recognizable pieces and one-of-a-kind designs. Lobmeyr will specially etch any crystal with a design of your choice – making the perfect, luxurious holiday present. The collection is on view through December.
