The Pace Gallery is hosting “67 68 69”, one portion of a two-venue exhibition of James Turrell’s classic light projections from the late 1960s. The other half of “67 68 69” is presented in alongside a collection of Turrell’s modern work. The latte is currently on display in Pace’s newly opened Palo Alto gallery.
The New York gallery is divided into five rooms: four featuring the noted projections, and one central room featuring geometric sketches. The projections — one pink, two blue, and one green — are presented in completely dark rooms and look as if to be three-dimensional until closer inspection. Turrell is known for his use of light to enhance and extend perception within his pieces, which have been featured in over one hundred exhibitions worldwide.
This portion of the exhibition is on display through July 29th, whereas its Los Angeles counterpart is on display until the end of August.
