At the Kunsthalle Museum in Vienna, I visited “Big Objects Not Always Silent”, a solo exhibition by Nathalie Du Pasquier, one of the founding members of the influential Memphis Group. Greatly influenced by her travels in Africa, Du Pasquier is well known for her vibrant and graphic textiles, carpets, and furniture.
For many years however, Du Pasquier has focused on painting, creating a series of still lives and bold, colorful explorations of form. The exhibition at the Kunsthalle--the first comprehensive solo exhibition of her work in an international institution—is a wonderful overview of a prolific and singular artist.
The exhibition is on view at the Kunsthalle Museum through November 20, 2016.
