Located in the heart of Little Italy, the Italian American Museum is home to various artifacts and cultural experiences. The front room of the modest museum contains glass cases displaying old photographs, memorabilia, and bank artifacts from the building’s preceding tenant. The museum’s second room is used to display art, screen Italian movies and teach Italian language classes.
The art show currently on display at the Italian American Museum is called “Big Glass in Little Italy,” which features artist Joseph Cavalieri’s ‘Pop’ stained glass pieces. Cavalieri puts an interesting twist into his stained glass works. Rather than traditional religious figures or geometric patterns, he features modern day celebrities and politicians. Some of these familiar faces included Barack Obama, Jackie Kennedy, and Marge Simpson. The show will be on display until October 10, 2016.
The Italian American Museum is located at 155 Mulberry Street in Little Italy.
