Earlier this month, the fifth annual Art Southampton art fair was held at Nova’s Ark Project, the 95-acre nature preserve in Bridgehampton.
Lush fields and roaming horses surrounded the fair pavilion, which featured pieces from over 70 international galleries, ranging from paintings and photography to sculptures and mixed media installations. The New York Academy of Art sponsored Call of the Wild, an exhibition co-curated by Brooke Shields and Academy President David Kratz.
Optical illusion was a recurring theme throughout the fair. Artists like Gavin Rain and Candice CMC show work designed to trick the mind. Gavin Rain’s paintings were composed of dots and colors, which appeared as celebrity’s faces when looked at through a cellphone camera.
