Yesterday, Proud Galleries hosted a private view of a new exhibition that will be happening over the next few months at Proud Chelsea. The new photography exhibition is called, ‘Around the Years in 80 Years’ that documents the photos taken by Rolling Stones’ member Bill Wyman. Proud Galleries have 3 different spaces around London but held it in Chelsea gallery. The reasoning was to honour of the moment in Edith Grove, just 5 minutes away, in 1962 where Wyman met the other members of the band. The bassist’s collection features rock icons, such as David Bowie or Mick Jagger, in their calmer, more thoughtful moments, with the majority of the images taken from the halcyon days of the 70s.
The night was made even more special as the great man himself arrived to check out his own neat handy work. The photography can all be characterised as candid, with my personal favourite being Ronnie Wood captured backstage casually smoking a cigarette with a black eye, after Chuck Berry punched him for playing too loudly. I mean, you can’t get much more ‘Rock’n’Roll’ than that.
