core ethos, which is reflected throughout the property, is based upon “socializing”. This means "to live true to yourself, without undue pressure, but with a life-sized social purpose."
Situated in the centre of Tokyo’s fashion-focused Shibuya district, TRUNK (HOTEL) features 15 stylish and uniquely designed guest rooms and suites, a spacious lounge for guests and locals, a store offering locally-sourced and made fashion, food and lifestyle items. Guests and locals can experience Japanese-Western fusion cuisine at one of the comfortable restaurants or bar, which is designed to encourage interaction. There is also a rooftop wedding chapel.
The contemporary interiors are both stylish and welcoming. The design features abstract artworks from local talents, concrete floors and modern wooden furniture. Upcycled materials are used throughout, including a fleet of abandoned Tokyo bicycles and staff uniforms made from end of life denim. The distinctive exterior is clad with wood and stone facades, tiered terraces and lots of greenery.
The hotel first opened in 2017. An innovative new development, TRUNK(HOUSE), launched in the Kagurazaka neighbourhood in August 2019.
