Maison Numen, launching Summer 2016, is an online platform for collectible artisan design products. The site, a global portal to the hidden talent of craftspeople from far corners of the world will combine its carefully-selected retail offering with the stories of the people behind the pieces.
The spirit of Maison Numen exists in the meaning behind an object, whether ancestral, practical, aesthetic or a combination of these. It is the tradition of making and creating shared by cultures around the world that Maison Numen will honour in one place through commissioned behind the scenes photography and short films as well as expert testimonials.
Founded by Venezuelans Jessica Macias and Ana Caufman, Maison Numen will launch its first collection, Latin Animae Volume 1 with 193 pieces from 35 designers and artisans from Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala, Peru and Colombia.
Maison Numen works with suppliers who share its core values of fair trade and sustainable practices, whether the maker of a one-off piece found in the Amazon or a designer in the graduate show of a London design school.
These careful relationships are formed during the travels of Maison Numen’s curators, who seek out the rare and inspiring approaches, techniques and traditions behind the world’s finest hand-made products.
