Serbian designer Draga Obradovic and German artist Aurel Basedow founded their eponymous atelier Draga & Aurel in a former textile mill in Lake Como, Italy, in 2007.
Draga’s passion for textiles and patterns combined with Aurel’s artistic take on the application of resin to wallsand furniture was the design duo’s winning formula. Draga & Aurel are widely renowned for their unique design approach and for giving vintage pieces a new life by making them one-of-a kind with customized and handmade details.
Draga & Aurel’s extensive body of work also currently includes ongoing collections and collaborations with Italian furniture-makers Baxter and Ivano Redaelli, wallpaper brand Wall&Decò, as well as bespoke furniture for Parisian department store Merci and global fashion brand Anthropologie. In addition to custom-made furniture, Draga and Aurel have completed large-scale residential and hospitality interiors including Dimora delle Balze, a 19th Century estate in the town of Noto, Sicily and Michelin Star Chef Cannavacciuolo’s Café & Bistrot in Novara.
The duo is currently working on a new capsule collection of limited edition pieces. For this work, they are experimenting with resin coating, hand printing, bronze casting and glass melting techniques. Draga & Aurel’s new capsule collection will be launched at the beginning of 2019.
